Why? And What? – … this is all About

Let’s start with: Why this blog?

First of all, welcome to my blog! Even though it’s not entirely clear to me why I want to start this blog, I’ll at least try to describe it.

The biggest issue is probably: Writing wasn’t and still isn’t my biggest passion, but over the last few years I’ve realized that there are so many topics I’d like to write about – whether it’s ideas and experiences from my professional environment or simply thoughts on other challenges that I stumble across on a day-to-day basis (e.g. my new passion for endurance sports). But until now I had been lacking a suitable place to do this and during my studies, I always aimed at becoming a better writer. The motivation: “Work on your Weaknesses”

That’s why I created this site, to create a space where I can gather my thoughts, my knowledge and my experiences. Especially in a time when social media dominates our communication, I find it a welcome challenge to give a few in-depth insights beyond nice pictures and share them with others.

Nevertheless, this website will also be there to be a platform for improvement. Improvement of my knowledge on the one hand, as I’m pretty sure that writing this blog post will take a lot of time doing research, and on the other hand to provide value to everyone reading this blog. Here my academic background probably has done quite a good job.

But I’m also looking forward to an exchange with you, about your thoughts and experiences and I’m excited to see where this journey can lead. So, feel free to get in touch with me or just to use the comment section below as a space for creativity.

What will I write about in this blog?

My goal is to share authentic posts that either fit my background or are currently on my mind. Much like a good podcast, there will be a mix of whatever is on my mind and hopefully, some insights that can be of help for you.

Even though this seems to be like having “no real plan”, I will be following a rough plan, as I don’t want to take you on this journey completely unprepared. That’s why I’ve decided to roughly organize everything into three main categories:

  • Business & Development: Here I will share posts on my professional background, from information systems over organizational practices to entrepreneurship. My focus is on how businesses work and how they can be optimized and made more sustainable through digitalization and other measures.
  • Experiences & Adventures: This category will mainly contain reports and stories, e.g. about the challenges I have set myself and the resulting lessons I would like to share with you.
  • Personal Development: Although I am not an expert in this field, I am still constantly striving for personal development. But I would say this is a field no one can get the true expert. However, I would like to take you with me on this journey and share helpful tips that I have tested myself and found useful. As a first start, you can find a list of the books I’ve read this year so far.

Why „3komma1“?

Quite simply: „Dreikommaeins“ was my final grade in high school. But why did I decide to choose this as the title for my blog?

Well, in recent years, I have repeatedly come up against obstacles based on this one decimal point. Be it the Numerus Clausus (NC) directly after graduating from high school for the degree programs I was interested in, or a bit later for internships that also required excellent academic performance.

Over time, however, I realized that this number became less and less important. People believed in me and allowed me to prove myself. My message behind it is that the best grades don’t always matter. You don’t have to be at the top of your class to be successful in life. It’s much more important to enjoy what you do and to make a contribution to society. For me, it has always been important to do what I enjoy and what benefits both me and others. Every activity needs a „why“. Once you have found this, everything becomes much easier.

Not without a reason is John Strelecky writing about the “purpose for existing” in all his books. Although I’m not entirely sure what my “purpose of existing” is exactly, I would assume that I already found a few indicators that point in a certain direction.

Maybe I’ll write an article in the future, which is a bit more centered on this specific topic and could also include what I have found to be my potential “why”, or at least what might be closest to it.
